What is a screening bucket / bucket separator?

A screening bucket is also called a bucket separator or separator bucket. They are used as attachments (buckets) on excavators and wheel loaders and are hydraulically driven. Depending on the machine type, the screening bucket has several driven shafts. The shafts can be equipped with different geometries, with high-wear-resistant steels or polyurethane stars. Depending on the shaft and design, different results can be achieved.

Mixing shafts with large blocks ensure good mixing of the material and screening shafts for the desired screening to the desired size. In addition, there are shaft designs for special applications for separating, crushing, homogenizing and much more.

Almost any source material can be reused this way – previous “waste” becomes a valuable building material again.

Bucket separator as a multifunctional attachment

A screening bucket is a hydraulically driven working tool for hard continuous use in everyday construction site operations. With unmatched reliability, we achieve optimal results with our screening buckets. The bucket separators can process 99% of all loose materials. For example, excavated material and topsoil can be screened, separated, crushed, dried, stabilized or mixed as source material. Demolition material is separated or freed from unnecessary fine material in preparation for the crusher.

Industrial bulk materials are loosened, humus and sewage sludge are aerated. The bucket makes it possible to process the material to the desired grain size, the desired final state and the desired purity. By using the highest quality materials in the manufacture of the buckets, unnecessary weight is saved. This significantly increases the bucket volume. As an attachment, a bucket separator is designed for a wide variety of carrier machines. They can be mounted on excavators, wheel loaders, backhoe loaders, telescopic and compact loaders. Thanks to the manageable weight, maximum throughput is also possible on small carrier machines. Cohesive material is no problem for the screening bucket and in most cases, with the right shaft equipment, it is insensitive to clayey soils and moist, cohesive lumps that stick to the material. The bucket’s shafts can rotate in both directions, allowing easy and quick clearing of blockages. The bucket separator can also be cleaned in the empty state by running in reverse.

The bucket separator at a glance

The bucket separator makes it possible to realize several work steps in just one machine:

  • Screening & Separating
  • Crushing & Loosening
  • Mixing, Dosing & Stabilizing
  • Recycling & Aerating
  • Loading
