A stump grinder, also known as a tree stump grinder or root grinder, is a specialized machine used to remove tree stumps and roots after a tree has been felled. The main goal of the stump grinder is to remove or shred the tree stump to a certain depth in the ground to create a level surface.
The root grinder works by pressing a rotating grinding disc with sharp teeth onto the tree stump. The teeth cut the wood into small pieces and grind it into mulch or sawdust. The grinding disc moves from side to side and from top to bottom to work the entire stump evenly. Depending on the size and hardness of the tree stump, this process can take anywhere from a few minutes to several hours.
The advantage of using a stump grinder is that it is efficient and time-saving. It allows for quick removal of tree stumps without the need for manual digging or root excavation.
SCE-550H is the largest stump grinder in this series.
It comes standard with a mechanically adjustable chip guard.
This model is suitable for most excavators between 7 and 14 tons and offers maximum freedom of movement through hydraulic drive.
